The country, geographically, is enclosed between Agro and Savoca torrent at whose edges there are flat land. Long before the year one thousand, it is believed that the places were inhabited by Pentefur, a community of uncertain origin that settled in the area that still retains that name. Originally the land of Savoca developed around the Rock of Pentefur at the top of which, at the time of Arab domination, a castle was built called, incorrectly, Saracen castle. The castle, at the end of the thirteenth century, had a significant strategic importance. In the Middle Ages Savoca was a real with the castle, large walls, administrative and judicial offices and two doors delimitation of which one is still existing. Outside the walls was developed, in the late fifteenth century, the village marked by the presence of a nice private buildings, still partly preserved. In the village you can admire several monuments including its pine forest. The village has been the scene of the movie Il Padrino by Francis Ford Coppola who made famous the bar Vitelli.
